Paul Pontieri
Mayor of Patchogue
Mayor Pontieri was born and raised in the Village of Patchogue. He graduated from Patchogue High School and returned to raise his family in the place that he's always called home.
Paul Pontieri was first elected Mayor of the Village of Patchogue in March, 2004 and was re-elected in March 2008 in an uncontested election. Prior to that he had served eleven years as a Village Trustee and was a vice-principal of the neighboring South Country School District's Bellport High School for many years. He has also served as a vice-principal at Ward Melville High School, in Three Village School District.
Mayor Pontieri has been honored by the Long Island Housing Partnership, the Regional Plan Association and Vision Long Island for his accomplishments in revitalization of downtown Patchogue and the Villages commitment to affordable housing.
Dr. George Santiago, Jr.
President, Briarcliffe College
Dr. George Santiago, Jr. received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers College in 1983 where he majored in Geography and Spanish. He subsequently enrolled in the Educational Administration program at The Pennsylvania State University and received his M.Ed. in 1986 and his Ph.D. in 1994.
Dr. Santiago served as Provost and Chief Academic Officer of Briarcliffe College from July 2004 until being unanimously appointed by the Board of Trustees to serve as the fourth President of Briarcliffe College on February 22, 2006.
Dr. Santiago has published a number of papers pertaining to accreditation and outcomes assessment processes, and has presented over 20 papers before professional associations. Dr. Santiago was a 2003 finalist for the Fulbright Senior Specialist award, and is a member of the Beta Chapter of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc. Dr. Santiago was born and raised in Vineland, New Jersey and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jorge and Ana Santiago of San Sebastian, Puerto Rico.
