Chef’s Secrets is not just an event; it’s an experience to remember. Each year the Long Island Network of Community Services, Inc. (LINCS) hosts this outstanding charity event, attended by hundreds of guests at the de Seversky Mansion in Old Westbury. Proceeds raised help fund programs for the Long Island Association for AIDS Care, Inc. (LIAAC) and BiasHELP, Inc., by either helping to ease the lives of those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS or by bringing awareness to the ever-growing problem of bullying, technobullying and hate crimes throughout Long Island.

This year LIAAC celebrates 25 years of providing much needed services, support and comfort to individuals and families touched in some way by HIV/AIDS.  Starting off in an era when even the word AIDS was taboo, LIAAC pushed the boundaries of social responsibility, encouraging local governments and communities to work together in creating a safe and understanding atmosphere where anyone infected or affected by HIV/AIDS would receive services.  LIAAC’s many ground-breaking programs treated it’s participants with dignity and acceptance and helped to shape the way those with HIV/AIDS are treated and viewed today. Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Gail Barouh and the vision she brought to life 25 years ago, LIAAC has touched the lives of thousands of people in non-judgmental, positive, and life-affirming ways. LINCS would like to thank Dr. Barouh and the talented staff that has served the Long Island Community over these last 25 years by having the courage to bring attention to a very misunderstood disease and by bringing a voice to so many that could easily have been left behind.

Hate, bias incidents, bullying, technobullying…all are realities faced on Long Island by far too many young people in all communities regardless of race, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, religion, age, disability or sexual orientation. Our kids are our most precious resource and BiasHELP has worked passionately to gain a foothold within the local communities by creating programs and hosting events with local schools, community groups and governments to help grow these young people into accepting, understanding and responsible adults. LINCS is proud to honor BiasHELP for its continued effort to raise awareness on Long Island’s most important issues.

Chef’s Secrets is a wine and food tasting event boasting some of the most sensational culinary dishes and beverages anyone could ever encounter. Tasting stations and beverage tables are set up throughout the mansion where guests can alternate through the many rooms where colorful and aromatic dishes are prepared right in front of your eyes, by some of the most renowned chefs on Long Island.

And the fun continues on…as guests continue through the night going back for seconds and thirds of their favorite dishes and beverages, the scene is set to pique the interest of the risk taker in all of us. A silent auction boasting champagne taste items in carefully wrapped baskets for a steal starting price brings out the dreamers and deal seekers. The competition gets fierce as guests silently battle out the bidding on the many luxury items offered. The beautifully designed Chinese auction baskets contain such high quality items as gift certificates to Long Island's best restaurants, local and NY theater tickets, gift certificates, performing arts packages, local getaways, wines, salon packages and more. If knowing what you are getting seems too easy a score, perhaps the Mystery boxes are perfect for you. One box, one price, and no idea what’s inside, but the guarantee is the prize is always worth more than the price charged.

This year Chef’s Secrets is once again privileged to present the enchanting voices of The Long Island Gay Men's Chorus who will entertain and delight our guests throughout the evening. So mark your calendar for this year's dazzling, open-style presentation to be held at the de Seversky Mansion on Sunday, November 4, 2012, and add a little flair to your holiday routine while supporting an array of important services to the Long Island community.
